King Lear's four children are overjoyed when he remarries. Aoife, her new stepmother, is very kind to them at first. But in her inner heart she is jealous of the kids and uses her secret magic to curse them.
She makes swans out of them. They spend many years on lonely lakes and frozen seas until the period of cursing is over and they are human beings again.
Although all their friends are long gone, the four of them know that they will eventually find peace.
