Francis Baird is from Arranmore, Co. Donegal, where much of his work is inspired. The first two novels Run an Bhonnáin (LeabharCOMHAR, 2010) and Tairngreacht (LeabharCOMHAR, 2018) were awarded first prize in the Oireachtas Literary Competition.
