We live in an age of speed and brevity where attention spans flicker and fade with every swipe and tap. Always chasing the next thing… the next moment… the next post.
Where, then, does that leave the poets and their words? Where does it leave poetry? Poets and creative writers have alway honoured the word, the sentence, the exactness, and the truth. The poet’s word is gold.
None of the poems in this collection are longer than 12 lines and most are shorter than that. All of the poems have been published before in collections by the poets or in anthologies in the case of the few poets featured who haven’t published their own collections.
They are all the sweeter for their brevity. A little goes a long way with this collection of one hundred poems by one hundred poets which showcase the variety and breadth of poetry in Irish of the last 50 years up to the present day.
