The Triscele Symbol
The symbol on the Irish Ceramic Dish is a Triscele. The Triscele is the name for a circular design that consists of 3 legs or parts. It originated from the Celtic "La Tene" style and is found in celtic manuscripts such as the Book of Kells. The figure gives the impression of movement as its three legs appear to be chasing one another, also knowing as Whirling, Flyot, Triskellion.
